Other Designs
Nigel has designed and built self-steering gear for several yachts from 6 tonnes / 32ft up to 30 tonnes / 55ft, to suit the individual boats’ and owners’ requirements.
Can be designed and built with an auxiliary rudder, recommended for larger yachts.
Two of Nigel’s auxiliary rudder designs have been proven with heavy use during a 40,000 mile circumnavigation with a 15 tonne, 48ft long-keel yacht.
The video linked below shows the self-steering working in heavy Indian Ocean swells, running in up to 40 knots of tradewind.
